Background and Vision
The College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of Chung Yuan University was founded in 2005 which combined the four departments of Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Department of Information & Computer Engineering, Department of Electronic Engineering and Department of Electrical Engineering formerly affiliated to the Undergraduate Program in College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and established a cross-field training program in 2009. In order to encourage students to move towards internationalization, the Chung Yuan Christian University and University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee Undergraduate Dual Degree Program in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering was established in 2021. In 2022, in response to highly demand, the Program in Intelligent Computing and Big Data was established to cultivate a new generation of cross-century talents in AI, big data and quantum computing, reaching the current scale. Most departments in the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science have complete bachelor, master and doctoral programs. Currently, there are about 3,300 students and nearly 34,000 graduates. Most of them serve at the domestic and abroad high-tech industry and participate in the establishment of many important technology companies. It is one of the important talent cultivation cradles for Taiwan’ s economic and technological domains. With the development vision of leveraging creativity, stimulating innovation, and embracing entrepreneurship, the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, cultivating outstanding talents with both humanistic technology and liberal arts qualities, in order to serve the public with technology, and cultivate cross-disciplinary knowledge and international perspective.
